James Lee Hanshaw James Lee Hanshaw, 81, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord, April 27,2018 due to a prolonged illness. He loved is family and always strived to be close to them. James was an active member in his community and served as a city councilman for seven years. Building and racing cars were passions of his. He actively attended Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church, and spent his free time camping. He was employed by West Virginia Tractor for over 20 years, and was also a general service manager. James's other professions include working for LB Smith in Baltimore, MD, Moulder Graph Company, and Charleston Housing. James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Stewart Hanshaw; He is survived by many others that he loved so dearly, his daughter, Christine Hanshaw-Epling and her husband, Harold Epling, Jr. of Hernshaw; grandchildren, Crystal Epling-Covert and husband Claude Covert, Jr. of St. Albans, and April Epling- Burke and husband, Paul of Hughes Creek; great-grandchildren, Brooksanna Burke and Hunter Burke; siblings, who he loved, brother, David Hanshaw, and sisters, Thelma Shreve and husband Henry, and Judy Williams and husband Marshall all of Charleston; he was blessed with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Donald and Larry Hanshaw; sister, Dorthy Cottrell; parents, Arnold and Martha McCutchen Hanshaw; You were the best grandfather, a granddaughter could ever have, showing me the ocean for the first time, trips to Myrtle Beach, Camping, trips letting me drive your blue 1977 Chevy truck through the campgrounds. Lots of gifts for Christmas, a Sweet 16 Birthday party on the WV Bell. Trips to the toy stores, and the mall. Taking me to fairs and festivals, taking me to Sunday School, and walking me down the aisle. I am very saddened, Lost and I will always love you.-Crystal Lynn Funeral service will be 2 PM, Sunday, May 6, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Art Morrison officiating. He will be laid to rest in Pritt Cemetery, Derricks Creek Road. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
